OUR ROOTS ARE LOCAL, BUT OUR BRANCHES REACH INTERNATIONALLY. WE'RE PROGRESSIVE IN TEACHING AND TRAINING, WITH A HISTORY GOING BACK 1500 YEARS.
The Shaolin Wing Chun system, which has its origins in the Shaolin Temple, is a complete system that teaches proper body mechanics, tactics, and strategies. In ancient times, warriors were expected to have a complete body of knowledge to operate successfully on the battlefield, and today's modern martial arts community has given rise to a variety of complex and different styles.
However, Meng's Martial Arts believes that having one cohesive system is ultimately more efficient and practical for self-defense. The school also distinguishes between the different martial art activities of personal development/self-improvement, self-defense/combat, health/fitness, sports/competition, and art/entertainment, and tailors its training accordingly. Beyond the physical, Meng's Martial Arts teaches how to use the body's full potential, including thoughts, feelings, and actions, to overcome any challenge in life.
Through more than 20 years of exhaustive research, travel, and training, Grandmaster Meng founder and curator of the Ving Tsun Museum developed the Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu Martial Arts System: Hung Lung Sin Fu Faat Mun Paai空 龍 善 虎 法 門 派, a complete, scientific based martial art system which harmonizes with the physics of the world we live in so that a practitioner can attain maximum efficiency in human combat. By teaching the close quarter combat efficiency of Wing Chun, we ensure that our students are proficient and effective in all ranges of martial arts to include long kicking, long striking, short striking, and grappling.
Once a student has some proficiency in some basic movements, the next step is working on the techniques with a more live format. Sparring doesn't have to be ultra-aggressive, but it does have to move away from fixed patterns. Sparring is about communication with your partner and focusing on an particular objective, skill set, or concept you are working on for that session.
The teaching methodology we use to pass on this martial arts knowledge is the same method they used in the Shaolin Temple hundreds of years ago. We call this method the Shaolin Halls Method of training. Progressing through the Shaolin Halls a practitioner learns to control their mind, their body, and their emotions so that they can be both effective and efficient in their daily lives as well as in a combat situation, in short, 'Harmonizing the Mind, Body, and Spirit."
